Photavia and its Architecture

PHOTAVIA® creates media experiences that use evocative images, sounds and information to stimulate a calm mood and positive emotions in viewers. The effects have been shown to contribute to a range of therapeutic benefits for individuals, families and caregivers dealing with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other age-related challenges. PHOTAVIA’s products can serve as effective tools to stimulate mental engagement, and thereby, slow the progress of cognitive decline. Equally as important, the Photavia V-Clips™ , Photrivia™, and the Photavia Toolkit™ can enhance the quality of life for all care partners by providing effective vehicles for positive engagement and interaction.

Photavia V-Clips while produced within a format based on the tenets of Art and Music Therapy, are also within a methodology that aligns with the principles of Universal Design Learning. Given this, Photavia has great potential for application across a broad spectrum of populations.

V-Clips are short, fun and interesting. PHOTAVIA starts instant conversations.

Engagement:
Photavia utilizes iconic imagery of and from historical individuals and events of the 20th and 21st century. The images are chosen for their broad appeal to audiences of all ages in multiple categories, that may present different points of culture, expand background knowledge of an event, or have personal relevance and subjectivity for the viewer.

Everyone learns something in just a couple of minutes!

Reminisce with Relevance.

Representation:

V-Clips are multi-modal lifelong learning tools. The images are thoughtfully chosen for their potential interest across age groups. The narrative for each image is carefully researched, written, and presented in both printed text and voice to enhance engagement, accommodating visual and/or auditory impairment or deficiency, and purposefully 2-minutes in duration. Currently, accompanying music beds are original compositions in finger-style guitar, providing soothing, comforting tones within varying melodic constructions and tempos.

It can help create new personal connections between caregiver and caree.
PHOTAVIA fills short times together and attracts attention elsewhere.

Outcomes:
Photavia V-Clips are a tool to generate Action & Expression. Individual verbalization and/or interactive conversation is wonderful, but the tapping of feet or nodding of heads in response to viewing Photavia V-Clips are common expressions of engagement, and considered positive results. We see the greatest inherent value in learning ‘what evokes action’ in viewers and ‘the forms of expression’ these actions take, as these points of information may be used by caregivers to enhance the daily experiences of those under care.

PHOTAVIA and PhoTrivia is so inclusive, and there are so many different categories, there is always something new and interesting.
